Transfurans Chemicals Furfural Structuur.png

Furfural has an aromatic odour reminiscent of almonds. This biomass-based chemical is a hetero-aromatic aldehyde with exceptional physical properties. The main application is a raw material to manufacture Furfuryl Alcohol, other applicaions include the use as a solvent or intermediate.

Furfural can be made from agricultural waste streams, examples of these waste streams are the bagasse of sugar cane, wood pulp, corn cobs and oat hulls. The hemi-cellulose fraction is converted to the high value chemical that forms the basis of all our products.

Furfural is commercially handled by our sister company, International Furan Chemicals (IFC). For more information, please visit their product page.
